Makindye Entertainment Foundation Uganda

The Makindye Entertainment Foundation is a group of young athletes from Uganda who engage, support and mentor the youth of their community.  This is our charity fundraise initiative and we hope to expand the benefits of trampoline to disadvantaged communities worldwide. The FTA has partnered with Akram, a young man dedicated to improving the lives of street kids in his community through dance, song, flipping and soon . . . trampoline activities.  100% off all donations will go directly into this fund to support sending them a trampoline, offering coaches training and supporting active play and trampoline classes. Akram already has 50 children signed up and ready to go!

"AKRAM IS A TESTIMONY TO OTHER KIDS IN HIS COMMUNITY AS HE HAS OVERCOME THE SAME CHALLENGES THEY FACE - HE BRINGS HOPE TO KIDS WHO ARE STARVING, OPPRESSED AND IN A VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION." ~ Michael Stromme, Uganda Outreach

Their motto says it all:

"We Rise By Lifting Others"

A Community Organization Aimed at Transforming Lives Through Trampoline Games, Dancing & Acrobatics

SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN OF UGANDA

The Freestyle Trampoline Association (FTA) is an organization of like-minded individuals and athletes in the trampoline industry who embrace the Freestyle element of sports.  We have created an official community that provides a platform for athletes who want to express themselves in unique ways. Here at the FTA we encourage athletes to explore what their body and mind can do on a trampoline by experimentation. Through this creative learning process, children of any age or background can enjoy the freedom to create their own style, at their own pace.

We focus on helping athletes use trampoline to discover themselves and what makes them unique. Through this Uganda Trampoline project, we hope to help the struggling youth, orphans and street kids in Uganda by giving them a trampoline. This will help them feel a sense of achievement, help them discover untapped talents they didn't know they have and create a sense of belonging, growth and forward movement in the community.

This fundraising program is designed to help those less fortunate to be able to attend training sessions, hold fun events and learn the benefits of the sport of trampoline in a safe environment no matter their situation.

We are looking for support the new Uganda trampoline community and any donation, no matter the size, will help us support the children of Uganda in this community.

Meet Akram Kalanzi

"My name is Akram Kalanzi, I was born and raised in Nkere, Makindye Kampala Uganda, I grew up in disadvantaged family of a single parent (mother) of which I later had to live on the street because of the harsh conditions I was passing through at home, at an age of 7 years.

On the street I joined other kids whom we used to earn a living through collecting scraps from the places around our community. Later in 2013 we started dancing on the street where we did street jam everyday for a living! After we met a man who was our friend and he was playing football but his dad broke his leg while playing football! Together with him, during his injury of a fracture, we decided to form a dancing group called Hypers Kids Africa, of which we were doing acrobatics and dancing. We started dancing on the streets of Kampala and all over our community, and with the grace of God we were able to get out of the street, which made an impact in our lives, through our talents. We  became one of the biggest and favoured dancing and acrobatics groups in Uganda: THE HYPERS KIDS AFRICA.

Uganda freestyle kids

After getting out of the street I decided to go back to my home community where I was born because a lot of street kids are still there struggling, so I help them dancing and teach them what I also know (skills) which I also hope may Change there lives. On social media I met Greg Roe and Trish McGeer, from the FTA, who gave me an idea of starting a federation in addition to what I know and what I do in my community. This is the Trampolines Sports Games that had never existed in my community and my country as well.  I hope when I combine trampoline games and dancing together with acrobatics I can create a great performance and something that never existed in the whole world!

Now I have more than 50 kids who are waiting for the trampolines to touch in our community and we want wait for the eagles to fly! "
